“Mentally Draining Week”

This is my first weekly diary. Key events this week include drills, event holding, and writing.

About Weekly Logs

Starting from today, a new “Weekly Diary” category has been added to this site for summarizing and recording my weekly work, life, and leisure activities. Weekly dairy will follow a “theme keyword” format: each week, a keyword will be determined based on the week’s events, and then combined with the week’s diary entries to create the log.

Exercise

From late this month to early next month, at the request of the Ministry of Truth, the Ministry of Bullshit, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Heavenly Eye, and other government agencies, we’re conducting a major drill. They tipped us off after the National Day holiday to prepare. When they say “us”, it really means I’m the one doing all the prep. I got roped into this mess because no one else at the office knows how to handle this kind of thing. Ever since I arrived, I’ve been stuck cleaning up all the messes. After the notice arrived, I began making the rounds to inform all the relevant deities, navigating endless bureaucratic wrangling. Last weekend, even my precious weekend time was sacrificed to draft a so-called emergency plan. Yet when the drill finally commenced, it turned out there was literally nothing for me to do. These operations are all outsourced to third-party service providers. I neither have the capacity nor the time to follow up on this matter, especially with a mountain of other broken tasks piled up waiting for my attention.

Event Holding

This week, an event requires going through the entire process, so the planning, implementation, and reimbursement fell squarely on my shoulders. This event was confirmed before I even joined the unit, yet it dragged on until now to start the process—clearly demonstrating how inefficient the administration can be. The event plan itself wasn’t difficult to write, but since I hadn’t done this kind of work before and didn’t fully grasp the requirements, it took me extra time to finish. The real headache came with the reimbursement process—a prime example of bureaucratic inefficiency. For a sum barely worth mentioning, I had to navigate a series of steps: first, getting approval through a leadership meeting; then securing an official stamp on the proposal; followed by filling out reimbursement forms, obtaining stamps on those forms, gathering supporting documentation… The entire sequence easily took four or five days.

Writing

This week’s writing efforts were the most dedicated I’ve ever put in. Since my secondhand computer arrived, my primary task after work each day has been drafting my daily journal and articles for the content site. These past two days, I even forgot to play games, focusing instead on planning a new content site and diligently accumulating articles. The more you write, the more proficient you become—that’s absolutely true. When I first started writing my diary, I could barely string words together, and my logic was all over the place. After writing for a while, it got much better. My thoughts flowed smoothly with almost no stumbling blocks, and my typing speed couldn’t keep up with my thoughts. However, I’m still not very familiar with writing articles for the content site and need more practice.
